“What do you imagine the Easter Islander was thinking when he chopped down the last tree?”
— Anthropologist Jared Diamond

193 devastated stumps, emblems of the world’s countries, mutely witness the coming destruction of The Last Tree, portrayed in a video circling the walls. The Last Tree begs the question: At one point do we recognize — and act upon — our own devastation?

“The Last Tree” project underwent exacting scrutiny to qualify as a sponsored project of the New York Foundation for the Arts and earn tax-exempt status. Contributions on behalf of this vital exhibit may be made by credit card or check payable to the Artspire a program of NYFA. Your contribution certainly helps defray my substantial cost
